Scope and limits

  • The listing is read without loading the whole file, so large ZIPs with tens of thousands of entries open quickly. With many folders, they start collapsed.
  • If file names from a Korean-Windows ZIP (EUC-KR/CP949) look garbled, choose the encoding in "File name encoding".
  • Preview supports text (first 1 MB) and images (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, SVG, etc.); each file can also be downloaded.
  • Password-protected entries and methods other than store/Deflate (e.g. bzip2, LZMA) are listed but cannot be opened. ZIPs nested inside are not unpacked.

FAQ

Is my archive uploaded?

No. Everything stays in this browser.

File names look garbled.

ZIPs made on Korean Windows often store names as EUC-KR. This is detected automatically; if it is still wrong, choose EUC-KR in "File name encoding".

Can I extract and save everything?

You can download files one at a time. Extracting everything is not supported.
